Julie Pernworth was named Executive Vice President, Comedy Development, CBS Entertainment, in June 2015. She reports to Thom Sherman, Senior Executive Vice President, Programming, CBS Entertainment.
In her position, Pernworth oversees the development of all CBS comedies. Since joining CBS in 2000, Pernworth developed some of the Network’s signature shows, including “Two and a Half Men,” “How I Met Your Mother,” “2 Broke Girls,” MOM, “The Big Bang Theory,” YOUNG SHELDON and THE NEIGHBORHOOD. Under Pernworth’s oversight, CBS debuted three new comedies this fall: BOB ♥ ABISHOLA, THE UNICORN and CAROL’S SECOND ACT.
Pernworth had been Senior Vice President, Comedy Development since 2006. She first joined CBS in 2000 as Vice President, Comedy Development.
Prior to joining CBS, she was Director, Primetime Series at NBC, working on “Ed,” “Freaks & Geeks,” and “3rd Rock from the Sun.” She joined NBC in 1995 as Director of Casting, overseeing the series casting of “Friends,” “Mad About You” and “Just Shoot Me.”
