CBS NEWS AND PRIMETIME RATINGS HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE WEEK ENDING SUNDAY, MAY 3

According to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending Sunday, May 3 (week 32 of the 2019-2020 broadcast season), CBS attracted 5.78 million viewers (#1 for the 12th consecutive week and +2 million viewers ahead of the nearest competition). The following are some highlights from last week across primetime and news.

The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH NORAH O’DONNELL amassed an audience of 7.01 million viewers with 1.26 million of them adults 25-54 for the week. Based on the gross audience (including a 4:00 AM rebroadcast) the CBS EVENING NEWS is up +23% in viewers and up +18% with adults 25-54 compared to the same week a year ago. Each day of the week, CBS EVENING NEWS was in the top five telecasts for all of CBS. On Monday, the CBS EVENING NEWS was the #1 program on CBS.

CBS THIS MORNING delivered 3.08 million viewers, 667,000 of them in the adults 25-54 demographic. CBS THIS MORNING was up +1% in total viewers when compared to the same week a year ago.

For primetime, starting on Monday, an ALL RISE encore was second in viewers (3.66m), followed by a BULL encore that was first (4.37m).

On Tuesday, CBS was first in viewers (7.46m) behind an NCIS encore that was first in viewers (8.40m) and was the night’s most-watched program. At 9:00 PM, an encore of FBI was also tops in viewers (7.07m), while 10:00 PM’s FBI: MOST WANTED was #1 across the board in viewers, (6.96m), adults 25-54 (1.2/05) and adults 18-49(0.7/04). 

On Wednesday, CBS was also first in viewers (6.30m) behind SURVIVOR (8.08m), SEAL TEAM (5.75m) and S.W.A.T. (5.03m, this season’s second-largest audience).

On Thursday, CBS led the way in viewers (6.37m) as YOUNG SHELDON was first for the night in viewers (10.14m, #1 show of the week) with this season’s second-largest audience. MAN WITH A PLAN at 8:30 PM was first in viewers (6.59m) and added +750,000 viewers from last week (from 5.84m, +13%). At 9:00 PM, a special MAN WITH A PLAN was on top in viewers (6.07m), followed by BROKE at 9:30 PM with 5.07 million viewers. Rounding out the night, TOMMY was #1 in its time period with 5.10 million viewers.

On Friday, CBS was first in viewers (7.21m) for the 30th time in 32 weeks this season. MACGYVER was the most-watched program in its hour with 5.89 million viewers, as was MAGNUM P.I. with 7.21 million. At 10:00 PM, BLUE BLOODS was the night’s top program (and the week’s top drama) with 8.52 million viewers.

On Saturday, 48 HOURS was first in viewers (3.99m), winning the night with its largest audience since March 2, 2019.

On Sunday night, CBS was first in viewers (5.94m), behind 60 MINUTES with a night-leading 9.31 million viewers (#2 show for the week). From 8:00-10:34 PM, a special movie presentation of RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK scored 5.23 million viewers.

On Sunday morning, CBS SUNDAY MORNING was the #1 Sunday morning news program for the 589th consecutive week in total viewers. The broadcast delivered 5.835 million viewers with 1.091 million of them adults 25-54. CBS SUNDAY MORNING also marked its 185th consecutive week as the #1 Sunday morning news program with adults 25-54. CBS SUNDAY MORNING was up +6% in viewers, compared to the same week a year ago.
