REALITY START AND FINISH LEAD CBS TO SOLID WEDNESDAY

Premiere of "Survivor:  South Pacific" Wins its Time Period in Adults 18-49 and Posts Demographic Gains Versus Spring Edition

 

"Big Brother" Closes its Best Season Since 2004

 

            SURVIVOR, in its 23rd edition, continues to post strong ratings as the premiere of SURVIVOR: SOUTH PACIFIC won its time period in adults 18-49 and adults 25-54 against the finale of "America's Got Talent," while the season finale of BIG BROTHER concluded its best season since 2004, according to Nielsen preliminary live plus same day ratings for Wednesday, Sept. 14.

 

The SURVIVOR: SOUTH PACIFIC (S) special 90-minute broadcast was first in adults 25-54 (4.5/12), adults 18-49 (3.4/10), second in households (6.3/10) and viewers (10.57m).  Compared to last spring's first episode of SURVIVOR: REDEMPTION ISLAND (60 minutes on February 16, 2011), CBS was up +2% in both households (from 6.2/10) and adults 25-54 (from 4.4/11) and +6% in adults 18-49 (from 3.2/09). 

 

The 90-minute finale of BIG BROTHER was second in households (4.7/08), viewers (7.78m), adults 25-54 (3.5/09), adults 18-49 (2.9/08) and adults 18-34 (2.3/07).  Compared to last year's final episode (two-hours on the same night last year), CBS was up +4% in households (from 4.5/08) and even in both adults 25-54 and adults 18-49.

 

For the night, CBS was second in households (5.5/09), viewers (9.18m), adults 25-54 (4.0/10), adults 18-49 (3.1/09) and adults 18-34 (2.0/06).
