"THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS" CO-CREATOR LEE PHILLIP BELL AND PIANO VIRTUOSO VAN CLIBURN TO APPEAR ON THE NUMBER ONE DAYTIME DRAMA, MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 11

Lee Phillip Bell, who co-created THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS with her late husband, William J. Bell, will appear on the show along with piano virtuoso Van Cliburn on Monday, Sept. 11 on the CBS Television Network. They will be stopping in at the opening gala for the new spa, N.V.P. Retreats, in Genoa City. Bell was the host of the "Lee Phillip Show," an afternoon talk show broadcast on WBBM-TV in Chicago, from 1952 to 1986. She also served as a producer and narrator on numerous award-winning specials and documentaries dealing with timely social issues. She was named director of special projects/programming at WBBM-TV in 1975, after co-creating THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS in 1973. She and her husband later co-created "The Bold and the Beautiful" in 1987. Van Cliburn is a classical pianist who began studying piano in 1937 at age 3, and won a Texas competition when he was 12. In 1948, he played Carnegie Hall as the winner of the National Music Festival Award. After attending Juilliard, Cliburn won the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow in 1958, which earned him a ticker tape parade in New York City. In 1962, Cliburn began the Van Cliburn International Music Competition, which is held in Fort Worth, Texas every four years and draws worldwide attention as pianists from all over the world come to compete. THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS has been the Number One rated daytime drama for more than 17 years and is in its 34th season.
