PREVIEW CLIP 1: "KARATE KID" RALPH MACCHIO EXPLAINS WHY HIS KIDS NEVER DID KARATE

For Screening/Broadcast Only: https://workspace.cimediacloud.com/r/5SCPuzaHwDV8

Rachael Ray: Your own kids, were they karate kids? How old are your kids?

Ralph Macchio: My kids are adults. They are in their late twenties, approaching thirty. You can look it up. My daughter is going to be like, ‘Okay, they can look it up.’

Rachael Ray: But were they karate kids?

Ralph Macchio: It’s an interesting point. My daughter is an accomplished dancer...singer, actress, dancer. My son played tennis and sports. I think they would be great at it and now you’re making me think I might have failed as a parent. I’ve never sent them to karate, but I would imagine for them, ‘That’s dad’s thing...we don’t need to do that.’

Ralph Macchio Continues: My daughter is on the show, on Cobra Kai she played a role on season 4 and 5 as someone who questioned my parenting skills, so she really enjoyed that. It’s so great because they now champion and support this show that was based on something that was such a big part of my young life that they kind of didn’t know about, only heard about. So, it’s really kind of cool in that respect.

Rachael Ray: It’s got to be lovely to have elements like that when your own kids are a part of the process, and you get to be with people that you know from back in the day.

Ralph Macchio: Yeah.

PREVIEW CLIP 2: RALPH MACCHIO REVEALS WHY PAT MORITA ALMOST DIDN'T GET THE PART OF MR. MIYAGI IN "KARATE KID"

For Screening/Broadcast Only: https://workspace.cimediacloud.com/r/5SCPuzaHwDV8

John Cusimano: When I was a kid, I remember Pat Morita from Happy Days which would have been 10 years... I heard, is it true that he almost did not get the role as Mr. Miyagi?

Ralph Macchio: No one wanted him for the role. No one wanted Arnold from Happy Days. He was this standup comic and Miyagi was this character of such breadth and great depth...the humor they believed he could handle but maybe not all that. The director John like I mentioned, and the casting director brought him in. There’s actually video tape on YouTube of his first audition and my first audition as those characters cut together.

Ralph Macchio Continues: It’s really worth a look and I write about that in the book...that sort of soulful magic that he brought that I felt in half a second. As soon as we started talking it was just meant to be.

Rachael Ray: There is that chemistry. Right?

John Cusimano: And that was real?

Ralph Macchio: That was real. It was just instant. Credit the writing, it has to be on the page but then how it’s enhanced and elevated...you know he was my partner and still to this day in the Cobra Kai series it’s really important to me that it’s always woven throughout.
