JEOPARDY!” Tournament of Champions Kicks Off Monday, May 17th With All-Star Buzzy Cohen Behind the Lectern

 

CULVER CITY, CALIF. (May 14, 2021) ­– As Bill Whitaker’s two weeks behind the JEOPARDY! lectern come to a close, a donation of $257,998 will be made to Media Fellowship House, an organization focused on creating programs, organizing coalitions, and facilitating conversations that promote diversity and understanding through fair housing, education, and racial justice advocacy work. With this donation, JEOPARDY! will have gifted $1,250,125 to various charitable causes on behalf of the guest hosts appearing this season.

 

The $257,988 contribution to Media Fellowship House equals the cumulative winnings of the contestants who competed during the time Whitaker served as guest host. The donation will be applied to secure and expand current fair housing programs, as well as the Dorothy James Scholarship Program and Alternative Diversion Program.

 

The JEOPARDY! Tournament of Champions, presented by Consumer Cellular, kicks off on Monday, May 17 with All-Star Buzzy Cohen at the helm.

 

The first week will consist of quarterfinal matchups that can be found here. Nine competitors will move on to compete in week two of the tournament with the semifinals airing from Monday, May 24 – Wednesday, May 26 and culminating with the two-day final competition airing Thursday, May 27 and Friday, May 28. The winner will claim the $250,000 grand prize, second place earning $100,000, and third place taking home $50,000.

 

The $250,000 grand prize will be matched by JEOPARDY! and donated to the Hope of the Valley Trebek Center for the Homeless, in honor of Alex Trebek. The Trebek Center will assist up to 300 people per year with shelter, intensive case management, mental health services, job training and placement, substance abuse counseling, housing navigation, life skill training, and medical care.
