New York, NY – June 23, 2021 –  Ryan Naso, the Staten Island father whose kids watched in horror as a man smashed their windshield with a baseball bat, spoke exclusively to INSIDE EDITION in an interview airing on Wednesday.

INSIDE EDITION met Naso at the body shop in New York where his pickup truck was being repaired. Naso, a retired coast guard veteran, said his nightmare began on the Staten Island Expressway in New York when his vehicle was sideswiped by another drive and they pulled over to inspect the damage.

He thought that I hit him in some manner and the second he got out of that car his attitude was already towards I need to pay for this,” Naso told INSIDE EDITION. “He was aggressive so there was no talking to him at that point. I told him I’m not paying for his car; it wasn’t my fault.”

That’s when, he says, the driver took a baseball bat to the front of Naso’s car, while his distraught sons, aged nine and eleven, witnessed the explosion of violence from the back seat.

I told my kids to duck behind the seats, get as low as they could,” said Naso.

In the terrifying video of the incident, one of Naso’s sons can be heard crying.

The second that bat hit the windshield, he got shook up pretty good,” Naso told INSIDE EDITION. “He saw glass come in the back seat, that’s what freaked him out.”

His children were even hit by shards of glass.

Glass was on my children, they were touching it, they got cut by it,” said Naso.

Naso says he tried to keep his boys calm until the man walked away.

He got his anger out, he did what he had to do, he felt like a bigger man for hitting the windshield and scaring kids,” Naso told INSIDE EDITION

No arrests have been made.
