New York, NY - September 18, 2008 - Lynne Spears, mother of famous daughters Britney and Jamie Lynn Spears, speaks to INSIDE EDITION about her new memoir chronicling her daughters' missteps and what she wishes she'd done differently.

Spears, who had a tumultuous year in the wake of Britney's public breakdown and Jamie Lynn's pregnancy at sixteen, penned her book titled, "Through the Storm."

Following are excerpted quotes from this exclusive interview scheduled to broadcast on INSIDE EDITION.  Credit must be given to INSIDE EDITION.

Spears tells INSIDE EDITION that it's difficult to recall the turbulent events of her daughter Britney's past year.

Spears: "You don't understand, I'm trying to forget it."

Spears tells INSIDE EDITION she doesn't understand the extreme media fascination with Britney.

Spears: "People are just drawn to her to watch her. I don't know, I don't get it...but people are mesmerized by her."

One year after Britney stumbled through a performance at MTV's Video Music Awards, she made a triumphant return this year, winning three awards.

Spears: "This was what she needed for that boost of ego.  You know Britney has gone through a lot and there's no one that deserves it more than her.  I couldn't have been happier that night and neither could she. After the first award, she called me and we were just squealing on the phone."

Spears also speaks with INSIDE EDITION about the criticism the public and media had of sixteen-year-old Jamie Lynn being pregnant versus the understanding they had of seventeen-year-old Bristol Palin being pregnant.

Spears: "That's human nature.  You see somebody that's kind of got some things going on bad and you just want to kick them a little more...We're judgmental by human nature.

Spears tells INSIDE EDITION her three grandchildren are her greatest joys but she gets angry about the paparazzi and the toll fame may have on them.

Spears: "All I want, Deborah, is to be able to take my kids to McDonald's.  Why can't we do these normal things that you can do with your children?"
