New York, NY – September 14, 2021 – In an interview airing on Tuesday, INSIDE EDITION’s Jim Moret gets an exclusive reaction from Britney Spears’ ex-husband of 55 hours, Jason Alexander, on the news of her engagement to long-time boyfriend Sam Asghari.

Britney and Alexander married on a whim in 2004 at A Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas. The union ended shortly after – Britney’s mother reportedly forced her to get an annulment just 55 hours later.

Alexander says he and Britney have remained friends.

When was the last time you spoke with her?” asks Moret

On the way over here,” responds Alexander.

He says she appears to be doing well.

She’s great,” says Alexander. “She’s good, she’s mentally stable, she’s fine.”

He even tried to get Britney on the phone during INSIDE EDITION’s interview.

She can’t talk,” said Alexander, after calling her.

Alexander has recently shown support for his old flame by attending a “Free Britney” rally.

However, his appearance at another rally on January 6th raised eyebrows. Alexander posted a selfie at the “Stop the Steal” rally in Washington. He says he was not among those who stormed the capital.

I didn’t even get close,” says Alexander.

Britney says her new fiancé, model Sam Asghari, has helped her through her toughest days.

Do you think he’s out for fame or money or love?” Moret asks.

I’m trying to be as nice as I can,” responds Alexander. “He’s really the only person that’s been around for a few years, so without him she would’ve been alone.”

Alexander wishes her luck in her new engagement.

I’ve always loved her,” says Alexander. “I’m always going to love her. If she’s happy with Sam and that’s going to happen, I’m happy for her.”
