RUSSELL CROWE RECALLS HIS CANNES FILM FESTIVAL PAST: "LIFE HAS COME A LONG WAY... WHEN I WAS 27 I WAS HERE IN OLD BOOTS WITH HOLES!"

May 12, 2010 (Los Angeles, CA) -- ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT's SAMANTHA HARRIS sat down with Russell Crowe yesterday in Cannes, France for a new interview to air tonight, May 12th.

Oscar-winning trio Russell Crowe, Cate Blanchett and producer Brian Grazer will premiere Robin Hood out of competition at the Cannes Film Festival today. "It gets kind of crazy [here at Cannes]," a jovial Russell tells ET. "More than half the fun of coming here in the first place is because of the craziness."

His third time at the Cannes Film Festival, Russell says, "I was here in 1991 with a little indie film, then in 1997 with LA Confidential. Life has come a long way. In 1991 I left Danielle's parents house to fly to the airport and then in 1997 I talked to her about it on the phone. This time around we've got kids and we're married and now she's here."

He goes on to say that back when he attended the Cannes Film Festival at the age of 27, he wore an old pair of black zip-up boots -- and realized only too late when it started to rain that one of the soles had worn through, "With the rain on the red carpet, you know, every step I took -- slurp, slurp -- a little more water got sucked up into my sock," recalls Russell. "I have a definitively clear memory of sitting in that screening of that movie with a sopping foot. So yeah, things have changed a little bit; no more squishy feet. I never actually wear a pair of Armani shoes to the point when the sole wears out. Giorgio sends me more shoes!"

Robin Hood opens nationwide this Friday, May 14th.
