ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT: JAKE GYLLENHAAL WITNESSES GANG SHOOTING DURING POLICE RIDE-ALONG

July 14, 2011 (Los Angeles, CA) - ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT has footage of actor Jake Gyllenhaal on the front lines of Los Angeles gang violence during a ride-along with the police last night.

A police spokesman said a gang member shot a rival, who was then hospitalized with bullet wounds above his lip and on the arm. Two suspects walked away and there were no arrests.

A rep for Gyllenhaal tells ET: "Jake is doing research for (his movie) End of Watch and has been amazed by the professionalism of the LAPD."

Gyllenhaal and fellow actor Michael Peña are researching police work for their roles in the upcoming movie, which is a drama that focuses on the partnership of two police officers.
