New York, NY – September 13, 2021 – In an exclusive airing on Monday, INSIDE EDITION’s Jim Moret speaks with Lindsay Bull, the alligator trainer who nearly had her arm ripped off during a children’s birthday party at Scales and Tales, a reptile park in Salt Lake City, Utah. INSIDE EDITION joins Bull as she returns to work for the first time since the incident.

Lindsay recalls trying to get the 8.5-foot alligator, named Darth Gator, to back up when he suddenly clamped down on her wrist.

At the time, everyone assumed Lindsay was dragged into the tank. She now reveals she jumped in purposely, thinking it was the best way to fight against the dreaded death roll.

My main objective at that point was to get in the enclosure with him so that I could freely roll,” Bull tells INSIDE EDITION.

Lindsay actually called on moves she learned from years of gymnastics.

That’s a common thing in gymnastics,” said Bull. “That you flip when you’re twisting and that’s exactly what I did. I just dropped my shoulder the same way you would when doing a twist.”

As Lindsay struggled, a fearless dad leapt into the enclosure and managed to pin the alligator down until Lindsay could be pulled to safety.

He’s just the greatest,” Bull tells INSIDE EDITION. “Even with a lot of training, it takes a lot of courage to get in there and do that. He did not hesitate.”

She says her biggest fear was losing her arm.

I just wanted to do whatever I could to mitigate the damage,” said Bull.

Bull removed her bandage to show Moret her injuries. Darth Gator ruptured 80% of her tendon, and she’s already making progress since her surgery last month. Bull is expected to make a full recovery.

Despite her injuries, Bull couldn’t stay away from the 8.5-foot gator.

She returned to the reptile park with INSIDE EDITION and even fed the gator that nearly took her arm.
