Julia Fox on Dating “The Artist” and Why Things Didn’t Work Out, “I didn’t sign up to have two babies.”

Drew: What was it like meeting the artist and coming out, did you think you were a muse, did you have things inside of yourself that you wanted to get out that he brought out in you?

Julia: When I first met him I literally thought nobody would ever hear about it, because a lot of the time you date these celebrities but they’re very hush hush and they’re like, ‘Don’t post a picture in my bathroom.’ So I kinda just thought it would be a secret. So when it suddenly got mysteriously leaked, it wasn’t me, I really was just not expecting that at all and then I just embraced it. I was like, ‘Okay I’ll do the fashion, I’ll wear the clothes. I’ll do what he says.’ And I only could do it for so long because ultimately I think he needed a full time person and I just couldn’t be full time, I had my son and then he’d wanna talk on the phone a lot, like I’d have to change diapers so I bought a pair of air pods so I could keep it in while I was doing mom stuff. It was just, it was so overwhelming and so unsustainable, and I think I just realized very quickly it wasn’t going to be sustainable because ultimately I cannot put anybody else first. My son has to be first. It just became too much. I didn’t sign up to have two babies. I couldn’t do it. It felt like two babies.

Julia on Whether She’s Ready to Date Now and What She Would Want in a Partner

Drew: What about now are you dating anyone?

Julia: Oh no, no, no. I have like sworn off men. I just, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. I’m happy everything’s fine. Why would I want to throw anything in the mix that might mess up my feng shui so to speak.

Drew: What if you find yourself like me almost eight years later still single?

Julia: Aren’t you so happy though?

Drew: Yeah.

Julia: That’s the best.

Drew: So if you were to date, what is it that would be a great.

Julia: What I’m looking for? I’ve made this list. So it would need to be someone who also has kids so they understand that they would never come first. That’s a big one. Someone that’s okay with seeing me once a week for a two-hour window. Also they have a driving force in their life that like isn’t me. I can’t be the center of somebody’s life. I can’t have someone’s world revolve around me. I tend to get into those kinds of relationships and it just never ends well because ultimately whatever vision of me they’re projecting onto me isn’t who I actually am and then when they see who I actually am they’re like, ‘Oh, well.’

Julia on Kanye Wanting Her To Be A Bigger Star and Having a Vision For Her

Drew: I’m having an epiphany, which is women can be afraid of a man for whatever the issues are, subconsciously or unconsciously wants to make us smaller. You dated someone who behaved that way but also made you so much bigger.

Julia: Yeah, and he did want me to be bigger. He did, like when I’d be getting a lot of press he was thrilled. That’s the thing about him when he has a vision for someone, he gets very obsessed with the vision, and it becomes almost like his little project, his little masterpiece in a way. He really is super fascinating and I never wanna talk down on him or even that relationship, even though it didn’t work out I still feel like I learned so much and he is a genius, I think he’s very tortured. I think he definitely has his issues as we all know. It feels even silly to talk about it now because it was for such a short time and I’m not an expert on all things Kanye.

Julia on Why She Doesn’t Delete Mean Comments from Trolls Online

https://app.cimediacloud.com/r/4sepSXlyugMk

Drew: Is there comments that no matter what they are, and I’m asking for advice here for all of us, and all of us moms who are raising kids out there…where’s your boundary with social media?

Julia:…I actually leave the troll comments up because I feel like it’s so embarrassing for them that they need to live with their mistakes. I don’t delete them. I’m like, ‘You’re gonna have this on your record permanently.’ Like you’re that person, ew. Like if anything I just feel bad for them, and also it’s like I’m not gonna clean up your mess. If you’re projecting and having a meltdown at your computer over someone you don’t even know, that’s on you. You need a therapist. But I get a lot, a lot of very nasty comments.
