Joseph Dembo, the CBS Radio executive and news correspondent who transformed WCBS Radio in New York City from a struggling station into the all-news format it still successfully broadcasts today, died this morning in Manhattan, where he had lived for many years. In a 28-year career at CBS, he played several prominent roles in radio and television, including as anchorman of the CBS Radio Network's "News-on-the-Hour" national broadcasts in the late 1970s.
