Gayle King Will Broadcast Live from Launch Site One Near Van Horn, Texas

 

The Network’s Live Coverage Begins Tomorrow at 8:15 AM, ET on CBSN Anchored by Norah O’Donnell and Anne-Marie Green; CBSN to Simulcast CBS News’ Special Report and Offer Continuous Coverage Throughout the Day

 

CBS News will deliver comprehensive coverage of Blue Origin's first human flight with Amazon founder Jeff Bezos tomorrow, July 20 on all broadcasts and platforms, including a CBS News Special Report and CBS THIS MORNING, the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH NORAH O’DONNELL, CBSN, CBSNews.com, CBS News Radio and CBS Newspath.

CBS THIS MORNING co-host Gayle King will be on location tomorrow at Blue Origin’s Launch Site One near Van Horn, Texas, co-anchoring CBS THIS MORNING (7:00-9:00 AM) and a CBS News Special Report (approximately 9:00 AM, ET). CBS EVENING NEWS Anchor and Managing Editor Norah O’Donnell will co-anchor the CBS News Special Report from Washington, D.C., and deliver the latest coverage on tomorrow’s CBS EVENING NEWS (6:30-7:00 PM, ET).

CBS News senior national correspondent Mark Strassmann will also report from Launch Site One, with KTVT anchor Doug Dunbar reporting from outside the Blue Origin property where spectators are expected to be watching the historic blast-off. CBS News space consultant Bill Harwood will provide analysis during tomorrow’s coverage from Washington.

CBSN, CBS News’ 24/7 free streaming news service, will feature special pre- and post- launch coverage beginning at 8:15 AM, ET anchored by Norah O’Donnell with CBSN anchor Anne-Marie Green. Additionally, CBSN will simulcast the Network’s Special Report later that morning and stream continuous coverage throughout the day.

CBS News’ full coverage plans are below:

  • CBS THIS MORNING will air a special edition of the broadcast with Gayle King anchoring from Launch Site One. Mark Strassmann will also take part in the coverage from Texas, and former astronaut Peggy Whitson will join CBS THIS MORNING to talk about what the Blue Origin mission means for the future of space tourism.

  • The CBS NEWS SPECIAL REPORT will air across the CBS Television Network (approximately 9:00 AM, ET), anchored by Gayle King in Texas and Norah O’Donnell in Washington, D.C. Mark Strassmann and Doug Dunbar will report from Texas, and Bill Harwood will provide analysis from the Washington studio with O’Donnell. The historic launch is scheduled for 9:00 AM, ET.

  • The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH NORAH O’DONNELL will feature coverage of the day’s events and Mark Strassmann’s live reporting from Launch Site One.

  • CBS NEWS DIGITAL will deliver extensive coverage across CBSN, CBS News’ 24/7 streaming news network, CBSNews.com, the CBS News app, YouTube and the CBS News social channels. Beginning at 8:15 AM ET, CBSN will feature special live pre- and post-launch coverage anchored by Norah O’Donnell and Anne-Marie Green. Additionally, CBSNews.com will host a live blog with the latest up-to-the-minute updates. CBSN will also simulcast the Network’s Special Report at approximately 9:00 AM ET, anchored by Gayle King and Norah O’Donnell.

  • CBS NEWS RADIO will provide anchored coverage of the launch during the 9:00 AM, ET CBS News top of the hour broadcast with Deborah Rodriguez. CBS News Radio will also provide stations with three special reports an hour beginning at 8:31 AM ET.

  • CBS NEWSPATH, CBS News’ news gathering organization providing news and information to 200+ affiliates nationwide and to broadcasters around the world, will provide a clean feed of the launch for CBS affiliates starting at 7:30 AM, ET and coverage from Mark Strassmann throughout the day.

  • CBS STATIONS will also deliver coverage throughout the day. In addition to reporting for CBS News’ coverage, KTVT’s Doug Dunbar will provide live reports for CBS stations across the country. Dunbar has also secured the first local interview with longtime Dallas-Fort Worth area resident Wally Funk following her history-making flight.
