THE “CBS EVENING NEWS WITH NORAH O’DONNELL” IS UP DOUBLE DIGITS IN VIEWERS AND KEY DEMOS

The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH NORAH O’DONNELL posted double-digit week-to-week gains in total viewers and key demographics for the week ending Jan. 7, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings. The CBS EVENING NEWS was up in adults 25-54 (+14%, 1.02m from 894,000) – the demographic most important to those who advertise in news – and in total viewers (+10%, 5.71m from 5.17m) compared to last week.

Additionally, the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH NORAH O’DONNELL posted week-to-week gains in women, up +15% in women 25-54 and +12% in women 18+.

This season, the CBS EVENING NEWS continues to close the gap with the competition. The flagship CBS News broadcast is in its closest competitive position with “NBC Nightly News” in 27 years (since 1994-1995) and closed the gap from last year in adults 25-54 by 24% and by 5% among total viewers. Against ABC, the CBS EVENING NEWS has closed the gap in total viewers by 13% and by 17% in the demo.
