CBS NEWS RATINGS HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE WEEK OF OCT. 4

  • 60 MINUTES made the Nielsen top 10 for the third straight time. The CBS newsmagazine’s audience of 8.47 million viewers was the week’s #7 primetime program, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for Sunday, Oct. 10. (Press release)

 

  • CBS SUNDAY MORNING was the #1 Sunday morning news program with viewers for the 586th consecutive week, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for Oct. 10. Anchored by Jane Pauley, the broadcast delivered nearly 5 million viewers with 817,000 of them in the adults 25-54 demographic, its largest audience with that demographic since May 16.   • FACE THE NATION WITH MARGARET BRENNAN was the #1 Sunday morning public affairs show on Oct. 10, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings. FACE THE NATION scored the top spot in adults 25-54 (460,000) and total viewers (2.7 million) Sunday and posted gains in both categories (+9% in adults 25-54 and +3% in total viewers) compared to last week.   • CBS MORNINGS, CBS News’ flagship morning program, posted its narrowest gap in viewers with the competition and the closest gap with ABC in key adult demographics since its launch, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending Oct. 8. The new morning program hosted by Gayle King, Tony Dokoupil and Nate Burleson launched on Sept 7. (Press release)

 

  • The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH NORAH O’DONNELL grew adults 25-54 (+5%, 854,000) and viewers (+1%, 4.8m) week-to-week, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending Oct. 8. The CBS EVENING NEWS posted more growth in the demo than NBC and ABC’s evening news broadcasts, while ABC delivered its lowest rating in adults 25-54 in nine weeks. The CBS EVENING NEWS also posted double-digit gains in women 25-54 (+10%) compared to last week. Season-to-date, the CBS EVENING NEWS continues to close the gap with NBC by 28% in adults 25-54 and by 13% among total viewers. Against ABC, the CBS EVENING NEWS is shrinking the gap in the demo by 12% and by 7% in total viewers this season.

 

  • CBS SATURDAY MORNING delivered 1.9 million total viewers with 310,000 of them in the adult 25-54 demo. Through three weeks of the season, CBS SATURDAY MORNING is up +7% among total viewers, while NBC is down -1% and ABC is down -3%. For the season so far, CBS SATURDAY MORNING is delivering the tightest gaps ever on the demo and total viewers with NBC and ABC since its debut in 2012.
