CBS News journalists and broadcasts amassed eight New York Press Club Awards for excellence in journalism, it was announced today.

CBS SUNDAY MORNING earned three honors, the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH NORAH O’DONNELL, 48 HOURS, CBS THIS MORNING, the CBS News documentaries “Pandemia: Latinos in Crisis” and “Bravery and Hope: 7 Days on the Front Line” each earned one.

The CBS News winners are:

• CBS NEWS “Military Sexual Assault: Norah O’Donnell Investigates” earned the Gold Keyboard Award, which honors a story or series that constitutes outstanding enterprise or investigative reporting. The award recognizes CBS EVENING NEWS Anchor and Managing Editor Norah O’Donnell and the CBS News Investigative Unit for digging up and skillfully presenting a story across all CBS News platforms that otherwise would not have been told. Producer credits for the award go to: Kristin Steve, Megan Towey, Adam Verdugo, Jay Shaylor, and editing by Greg Hotsenpiller. Len Tepper is executive director of the CBS News Investigative Unit. Watch it HERE. 

• CBS THIS MORNING: “COVID-19: On the Frontlines” earned top honors in the Continuing Coverage – TV category for David Begnaud’s ongoing coverage of America’s coronavirus crisis. Reporting from dozens of cities across the country during unprecedented times, Begnaud and the CBS THIS MORNING team provided the public with essential and compelling developments almost daily on the virus’s devastating impact on people's lives, their livelihoods, and their communities. Watch it HERE.

• “PANDEMIA: Latinos in Crisis”  won in the Feature Reporting Science, Medicine and Technology, Internet category for Ed O’Keefe’s reporting on Florida Senator Marco Rubio’s work to pass the Paycheck Protection Program and New York Assemblywoman Catalina Cruz’s hands-on work to feed and clothe her low-income constituents during the pandemic. • CBS SUNDAY MORNING: “Americans without Water” was honored in the Feature Reporting – TV category. Lee Cowan reported on the forgotten cities and towns where more than two million Americans have no clean water and the non-profit organization that is answering their call for help. Sari Aviv is the producer. • CBS SUNDAY MORNING: “Not So Plain” earned the Food Reporting – TV honor for Seth Doane’s report on the story of vanilla in Madagascar and why the valuable cash crop can be worth more by weight than silver. • 48 HOURS: “The Case Against Nicole Addimando” took top honors in the Crime Reporting ­– TV division. Correspondent Jericka Duncan and 48 HOURS investigated the case against a Poughkeepsie, N.Y. woman who claimed she shot her abusive partner in self-defense. The documentary featured the work of a team of CBS News journalists embedded with emergency physicians and critical care specialists, struggling to save patients suffering from COVID-19 at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, N.Y. BRAVERY AND HOPE: 7 DAYS ON THE FRONT LINE is produced by Andrew Bast, T. The annual New York Press Club Awards honor excellence by writers, reporters, editors, producers, photographers and multimedia journalists. Entries were judged in 30 categories. Winners were selected from hundreds of entries submitted by TV, radio, newspapers, websites, magazines and newswires in New York City and around the country.
