THE “CBS EVENING NEWS WITH NORAH O’DONNELL” CONTINUES RATINGS MOMENTUM, UP IN TOTAL VIEWERS AND ADULTS 25-54 WHILE COMPETITORS DECLINE WEEK-TO-WEEK

The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH NORAH O’DONNELL continues its ratings momentum, adding total viewers and growing in adults 25-54 – the demographic most important to those who advertise in news – while NBC and ABC declined week-to-week, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings.

For the week of Jan. 10, the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH NORAH O’DONNELL delivered 5.8 million total viewers and 1.03 million in the adults 25-54 demographic. It was the only network evening news broadcast to grow week-to-week in both categories, up +1% in adults 25-54 and total viewers, while the competition declined; NBC lost -2% in viewers and -6% in adults, and ABC fell -4% in both adults 25-54 and viewers. The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH NORAH O’DONNELL delivered its strongest ratings this season (best in viewers and adults 25-54 since February 2021).

This season, the CBS EVENING NEWS continues to close the gap with the competition. The flagship CBS News broadcast is in its closest competitive position with “NBC Nightly News” in 27 years (since 1994-1995) and closed the gap from last year in adults 25-54 by 24% and by 5% among total viewers. Against ABC, the CBS EVENING NEWS has closed the gap in total viewers by 13% and by 17% in the demo.
