CBS NEWS RATINGS HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE WEEK OF JAN. 10

  • 60 MINUTES finished the week in the top five, drawing 11.3 million viewers with 2.80 million of them adults 25-54, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for Sunday, Jan. 16. 60 MINUTES was the week’s #5 primetime broadcast in viewers, adults 18+ and adults 25-54. 60 MINUTES was Sunday night’s #1 non-sports program. 60 MINUTES ranked as a top five broadcast in viewers for the eighth time in 16 airings this season, finished as a top 10 broadcast 15 times in 16 airings.   • CBS SUNDAY MORNING, anchored by Jane Pauley, marked its 599th consecutive week as America’s #1 Sunday morning news program, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for Jan. 16. The broadcast delivered 5.8 million viewers with over 1.1 million of them in the adults 25-54 demographic, the best delivery of the season in both demos.   • FACE THE NATION WITH MARGARET BRENNAN was the #1 Sunday morning public affairs show across the board on Jan. 16, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings. This was FACE THE NATION’s 23rd consecutive week at #1 among viewers. FACE THE NATION delivered 3.2 million viewers and 611,000 in adults 25-54 for the week, the best in the demo in five weeks. NBC and ABC both fell week to week across all key demos. Season-to-date, FACE THE NATION is the #1 Sunday morning public affairs show in viewers for the second consecutive year (leading ABC by +321,000 viewers and NBC by +389,000 viewers season-to-date) and is leading NBC for the first time in seven years in the adults and women 25-54 demographic.   • CBS MORNINGS was the only broadcast morning news program to grow week-to-week, delivering 2.537 million viewers, up +5% from the previous according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending Jan. 14, 2022. CBS MORNINGS also posted double-digit percentage gains in adults 25-54 (564k, +10%) and women 25-54 (564k, +16%) while the competition was mostly down. NBC fell -3% in adults and saw a -4% drop among women, while ABC fell -2% in the demo, but grew +2% in women. The new morning program hosted by Gayle King, Tony Dokoupil and Nate Burleson launched on Sept. 7, 2021. In the 19 weeks since launch, CBS MORNINGS is up +4% in adults and +6% in women compared to the previous 19-week period, which is better than the competition, NBC (+2% in adults and women) and ABC (-1% among adults and down -5% in women). Compared to last season, CBS MORNINGS has cut into “TODAY’s” lead in the adults 25-54 demo by 12% and “Good Morning America’s” by 14%.   • The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH NORAH O’DONNELL delivered its strongest numbers of the season (the best in viewers and adults 25-54 since Februrary 2021), growing week-to-week while the competition fell. For the week of Jan. 10, the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH NORAH O’DONNELL delivered 5.8 million total viewers and 1.03 million in the adults 25-54 demographic. It was the only network evening news broadcast to grow week-to-week in both categories, up +1% in adults 25-54 and total viewers, while the competition declined; NBC lost -2% in viewers and -6% in adults, and ABC fell -4% in both adults 25-54 and viewers. This season, the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH NORAH O’DONNELL is delivering the tightest demo gap with NBC in 27 years (since 1994-1995) and with ABC since 2018-2019. Compared to last year, the CBS EVENING NEWS is closing the demo gap with NBC by 24% and with ABC by 17%. In viewers, CBS has closed the gap by 5% against NBC and 13% with ABC.   • CBS SATURDAY MORNING delivered 2.1 million total viewers with 427,000 of them in the adults 25-54 demo. CBS SATURDAY MORNING saw more week-to-week growth than “Good Morning America Saturday” across viewers and adults. Through 17 weeks this season, CBS SATURDAY MORNING is growing viewers from last year (+1%) while ABC is down -9%. CBS SATURDAY MORNING has closed the gaps with ABC in total viewers by 26% and by 3% with NBC. In the adults 25-54 demo, CBS SATURDAY MORNING has closed the gap with ABC by 23%.
