Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) joined CBS MORNINGS to react to the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas. He discussed the next steps for Congress on gun safety legislation and background checks. “Why spend all this time coming to Congress … and then do nothing slaughter after slaughter?” Senator Murphy says his colleagues who refuse to “come to the table” on common sense gun legislation are not doing enough to stop school shootings. Representative Tony Gonzales (R-TX) joined CBS MORNINGS to discuss the shooting at Robb Elementary and rebuilding the community. When asked about addressing gun control, Rep. Gonzales, who represents the district where the Uvalde school shooting happened, says his community needs “love.” When asked whether he was rethinking his prior votes rejecting gun reform measures, including one that called for expanded background checks, he said: “I’m happy to debate policy not today.” Watch: https://bit.ly/3PAV0Qx

Lt. Christopher Olivarez, spokesperson for the Texas Department of Public Safety, joined CBS MORNINGS to give an update on the deadly school shooting at Robb Elementary School. Lt.
