CBS NEWS RATINGS HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE WEEK OF DEC. 27

  • 60 MINUTES PRESENTS finished the week in the top 10, drawing 7.09 million viewers, 2.8/09 in adults 18+ and 0.9/04 in adults 25-54, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for Sunday, Jan. 2. 60 MINUTES PRESENTS was the week’s #6 primetime broadcast in both viewers and in adults 18+.   • CBS SUNDAY MORNING, anchored by Jane Pauley, marked its 597th consecutive week as America’s #1 Sunday morning news program, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for Jan. 2. The broadcast delivered 5.3 million viewers with 926,000 of them in the adults 25-54 demographic and 528,000 in the women 25-54, the best delivery of the season among both 25-54 demos while second best in viewers.   • CBS MORNINGS posted 2.3 million viewers, 479,000 of them in the adult 25-54 demo, and 255,000 among women 25-54, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending Dec. 31. The new morning program hosted by Gayle King, Tony Dokoupil and Nate Burleson launched on Sept 7. In the 17 weeks since launch, CBS MORNINGS is up +6% in adults and +8% in women compared to the previous 17-week period, which is better than the competition, NBC (+2% in adults and women) and ABC (flat among adults and down -4% in women). Compared to last season, CBS MORNINGS has cut into NBC and ABC’s lead on the adults 25-54 demo by 13%.   • FACE THE NATION WITH MARGARET BRENNAN was the #1 Sunday morning public affairs show on Jan. 2, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings. FACE THE NATION delivered 3.2 million viewers and 599,000 in adults 25-54 for the week, delivering the season’s second-best number in viewers. FACE THE NATION was also #1 in women 25-54 (338,000), delivering its season’s best number in that demo. Season-to-date, FACE THE NATION is the #1 Sunday morning public affairs show in viewers for the second consecutive year (leading NBC +374,000 viewers season-to-date) and is leading NBC for the first time in seven years in the adults and women 25-54 demographic.   • The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH NORAH O’DONNELL delivered 5.2 million viewers and 891,000 in adults 25-54 the week ending Dec. 31. The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH NORAH O’DONNELL posted week-to-week gains in viewers (+4%), while NBC lost viewers (-30k). Among adults 25-54, the demographic most important to advertisers, CBS EVENING NEWS grew week to week while “NBC Nightly News” fell. This season, the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH NORAH O’DONNELL is delivering the tightest demo gap with NBC in 27 years (since 1994-1995) and with ABC since 2018-2019. Compared to last year, the CBS EVENING NEWS is closing the demo gap with NBC by 30% and with ABC by 21%. In viewers, CBS has closed the gap by 9% against NBC and 15% with ABC.   • 48 HOURS was #1 at 10:00 PM and delivered 2.71 million viewers with 553,000 of them adults 25-54, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for Jan. 1. 48 HOURS was up +380,000 viewers (from 2.33m, +17%) when compared to the previous original edition (Dec. 18) and up with +67% with adults 25-54.
