“60 MINUTES” IS #5 FOR THE WEEK

Third Straight Top 10 Showing for America’s #1 News Program

60 MINUTES finished at #5 in viewers and households, the third straight week the broadcast made Nielsen’s Top 10 List.

The program drew 16.98 million viewers, adding 2.51 million over last week (from 14.47 million, +17 percent).   In households, the broadcast also improved significantly week to week, scoring a 10.5/15 rating and share (from 9.2/14, +14 percent), according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for Sunday, Nov. 27.

60 MINUTES, America’s most-watched news program, featured a Scott Pelley report on homeless children living in cars in Florida, Morley Safer’s story on the chemists behind the flavors in processed foods and Bob Simon’s profile of film star and now director Angelina Jolie.

During the East Coast broadcast, #60Minutes was a worldwide trending topic on Twitter, as viewers discussed the broadcast’s content, especially Pelley’s report on the homeless, which generated a tremendous outpouring of financial, housing and employment donations.  Video streams for 60MINUTES.com and 60MinutesOvertime.com this past Sunday-Monday were the second highest of the season.

CBS News Chairman Jeff Fager is the executive producer of 60 MINUTES; Executive Editor Bill Owens oversees 60MinutesOvertime.
