CBS This Morning Listings for week of April 4

CBS THIS MORNING: SATURDAY Planner

April 2, 2016

Anthony Mason & Vinita Nair

Our Feature Stories:

STADIUM FINANCING:  This week, the San Diego Chargers unveiled plans to build a $1.8 billion stadium and convention center.  And while the plan would keep the team in California's second largest city, it would cost millions in taxpayer dollars to build.  We’ll talk with Deadspin News Editor Tom Ley about the money behind these stadiums and who’s really paying for them.

CHANGING FOCUS:  Conflict reporters and photographers have a very dangerous job.  They put themselves in very risky situations in order to get as close to the action as possible.  Benjamin Lowy started his career covering the Iraq war in 2003, and has become well  known for his images of war zones.  After a near death experience, Lowy decided to switch his focus to a different, yet still risk-involving, specialty.  Vinita Nair will introduce us to the photographer and show us his wide range of work.

BILL RAFTERY:  Legendary announcer Bill Raftery is in his 34th season as a college basketball analyst for CBS Sports.  Raftery is best known for his signature stream of catch-phrases during the games and has become one of the most recognizable voices in college basketball.  DeMarco Morgan sits down with "The Coach" as he gets ready to call this weekend's Final Four.

THE DISH, BRAD MILLER:  Chef Brad Miller’s food has been called “nuanced and delicious” (LA Times) with very unique dishes that draw from his Midwest and West coast influences.  He calls the dishes at his Los Angeles restaurant Ox & Son’s “LA food,” while also involving a nod to his father, Gary “Ox” Miller, a butcher who Miller worked with throughout his childhood.  Chef Miller now has multiple restaurants under his belt, and continues to create rustic and bold dishes.  Chef Brad Miller will join us in studio for this week’s Dish.

SATURDAY SESSION, THE HEAVY:  The hard-hitting musicians of The Heavy first got together back in 1998, when lead singer Kevin Swaby and guitarist Dan Taylor bonded over old soul and R&B records while working at The Gap. Twelve years later, the British rockers broke through with their hit, "How You Like Me Now."  This year, The Heavy are taking things to the next level.  Their music has been heard in trailers for the films "The Hateful Eight" and "The Big Short," and their single "Turn Up" is the featured track for the NCAA's March Madness Tournament.  They are celebrating the release of their fourth full-length studio album, "Hurt & The Merciless" and join us for this week's Saturday Session.
