CBS NEWS’ “CBS SUNDAY MORNING” POSTS YEAR-TO-YEAR AUDIENCE GROWTH AND MARKS ITS 621ST CONSECUTIVE WEEK AS THE #1 SUNDAY MORNING NEWS PROGRAM

CBS News’ CBS SUNDAY MORNING posted year-to-year audience growth and marked its 621st consecutive week as the #1 Sunday morning news program, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for Sunday, Nov. 22.

CBS SUNDAY MORNING’s annual food-themed edition delivered 5.7 million viewers with 1.1 million of them in the adult 25-54 demographic. The broadcast was up +1% in total viewers when compared to the same week a year ago. Season-to-date, CBS SUNDAY MORNING is delivering 5.647 million viewers, up +1% from the previous year.

Jane Pauley anchored Sunday’s broadcast, which featured Lee Cowan’s report on the growing issue of food insecurity. Martha Teichner visited with a consultant who helps the world make perfect bagels. Mark Whitaker talked with chef Marcus Samuelsson who, in a new book, looks at the role Black cooks play in the history of American food. Rita Braver reported on an exhibit of tureens.

Additionally, Seth Doane reported from Italy on the simple yet very complicated Tortellini en Brodo. Conor Knighton had a surprising look at mint. Nancy Giles looked into the importance of snacks. Tracy Smith talked with actress Kate Hudson about her quest to end world hunger through her work with the World Food Programme. Jim Axelrod talked with a chef who, from his New York apartment, has helped feed India during the pandemic. Luke Burbank reported on America’s oldest Chinese restaurant – opened in Butte, Mont. in 1911. Jonathan Vigliotti reported on the Rancho Gordo club in Napa, Calif., which sells beans. Mo Rocca caught up with the makers of the nation’s oldest spirit – Applejack. And contributor Kelefa Sanneh looked at the popularity of rainbow cookies.
