Coverage of PGA Championship across CBS, CBS Sports Network, CBS Sports HQ and CBSSports.com; Paramount+ to Stream Broadcast Coverage

Network Will Utilize Innovative Array of Technology Including Live Drones, Wind Analysis, Bunker Cams and FlyCams to Help Showcase 103rd PGA Championship

CBS Sports is set to broadcast the PGA Championship, for the 31st consecutive year and 38th overall, live from the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort, S.C., May 20-23.

The network will offer comprehensive coverage of the PGA Championship across all its platforms, including CBS, CBS Sports Network, CBS Sports HQ and CBSSports.com. Coverage is highlighted by the third and final rounds on Saturday, May 22 and Sunday, May 23 (1:00-7:00 PM, ET; both days) on the CBS Television Network, with broadcast coverage streaming live on the Paramount+ subscription service.

For the 31st consecutive year, Jim Nantz, CBS Sports golf anchor, will host the network’s coverage from the 18th tower, along with lead analyst Sir Nick Faldo, and Ian Baker-Finch, Frank Nobilo and Trevor Immelman. Dottie Pepper is the lead on-course reporter, with Mark Immelman and Colt Knost, who makes his debut on CBS. Amanda Balionis will handle interviews. Veteran announcer Verne Lundquist rounds out the CBS Sports announce team.

CBS Sports’ coverage will be enhanced by a vast array of innovative technology, providing viewers an unrivaled viewing experience and helping contextualize the story unfolding throughout the PGA Championship. The technological enhancements include:

  • Live Drone Coverage – CBS will have multiple state-of-the-art drones as a live camera source for coverage at the Ocean Course, providing unique and beautiful views during live action.

  • Wind Analysis – Numerous anemometers measuring wind speed, direction and daily wind trends will be strategically placed around the course to capture the entire 18 holes, providing CBS the ability to dissect and discuss how the dramatic wind gusts from the Atlantic Ocean factor in crowning the PGA Champion at the Ocean Course.

  • Robotic Camera Bunkers – CBS will deploy two robotic bunker cams at the iconic 17th hole. These cameras will provide a distinct point of view of the lie and contact as players look to save themselves from the sand.

  • Fly Cam – CBS’ Fly Cams return – with coverage on both the practice range and 18th green. The cameras stretch nearly 1,200 feet and oscillate up and down to provide a fresh perspective and angle of the action.

  • 4D Replay – 4D Replay returns on the par-4 15th hole. Introduced for the first time at the 2018 PGA Championship, an array of 4D cameras border the tee box to offer a 180-degree look around the player to provide a thorough breakdown of a players’ swing.

  • Atlas Camera – CBS’ will again utilize its Atlas Camera – a shallow, depth-of-field camera perspective – to cover players walking the course with this eye-popping look for all four days.

  • Toptracer – CBS will use Toptracer broadcast technology on all 18 holes, as well as during CBS Sports Network’s coverage of PGA CHAMPIONSHIP ON THE RANGE, using 3D radar tracking to provide the viewer with a true sense of distance, height, curvature and more. Tracing live tee shots on various holes showing the apex, ball speed, distance and curve will once again be staples of this technology.

    • Toptracer RF - Toptracer will outfit three RF mini cameras in order to provide ball tracking graphics and statistics on a player’s second shot from the fairway anywhere on the course

    • ARL Virtual Eye - Virtual Eye technology returns, once again with coverage on all holes (except the par 3s), as well during PGA CHAMPIONSHIP ON THE RANGE. Virtual Eye uses Toptracer ball tracing capabilities on tee shots within a 3D hole model while simultaneously showing the golfer hit his shots from the tee. Virtual flyover animations also return, giving a second shot perspective once the ball comes to rest, including GolfTrax information providing key statistical information for both individual players and holes.

  • SwingVision – CBS returns its Emmy Award-winning technical innovation, SwingVision. Featuring super-slow action to break down players’ swings and demonstrate shots from various parts of the course, there will be two SwingVisions deployed to capture twice as many dramatic replays of golfer shots.

  • SmartCart – Featuring enhanced capabilities and presentation, CBS will utilize Smartcart to analyze and telestrate a myriad of data happening on the golf course.

This marks the second year of the 11-year deal with the PGA of America, CBS Sports and ESPN. The networks will once again provide live, wire-to-wire coverage of the PGA Championship Thursday through Sunday, with CBS Sports leading overall production efforts.

Sellers Shy is the lead producer for Golf on CBS, and Steve Milton serves as the lead director. Harold Bryant is Executive Producer & Executive Vice President, Production, CBS Sports. David Berson is President, CBS Sports. Sean McManus is Chairman, CBS Sports.
