WORLD'S BEST PLAYERS INCUDING DONALD, WESTWOOD, MICKELSON, McILROY, WOODS AND DEFENDING CHAMPION MAHAN TEE UP AT "WORLD GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS: BRIDGESTONE INVITATIONAL" THIS WEEKEND, AUGUST 6-7, ON CBS SPORTS

Defending champion Hunter Mahan along with Luke Donald, Lee Westwood, Rory McIlroy, Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods are among the world's elite players aiming for a WORLD GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS: BRIDGESTONE INVITATIONAL title this week as CBS Sports broadcasts the third and final rounds of the star-powered tournament on Saturday, Aug. 6 and Sunday, Aug. 7 (2:00-6:00 PM, ET, both days), live from Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio.

 

Woods returns to competitive golf at the World Golf Championships: Bridgestone Invitational where he has seven victories. Another victory would tie Sam Snead's PGA TOUR record for the most wins in a single tournament with eight. Snead won eight times in Greensboro.   Defending champion Mahan is one of four players that has top-10 finishes in the first two World Golf Championships of 2011 and one of four past winners of the Bridgestone Invitational in this year's field - Woods, Stewart Cink and Darren Clark.  Twenty-five of the top 30 in the current FedExCup standings have qualified for the field of 76 this week which includes   players from 17 different countries.  The elite field includes 2011 major championship winners Charl Schwartzel, McIlroy and Clarke, Donald, Westwood, Mickelson, Martin Kaymer, Steve Stricker, Dustin Johnson, Jason Day, Nick Watney, Matt Kuchar, Graeme McDowell, Ernie Els, K.J. Choi, Bubba Watson, Paul Casey, Ian Poulter, Jim Furyk, Rickie Fowler, Louis Oosthuizen, Sean O'Hair, Geoff Ogilvy, Lucas Glover, Robert Allenby, Ryan Moore, Francesco  Molinari, Edoardo Molinari, Bo Van Pelt, David Toms, Matteo Manassero, Charley Hoffman, Retief Goosen, Sergio Garcia, Stewart Appleby, Padraig Harrington,  Ryo Ishikawa, Zach Johnson, Adam Scott, Brandt Snedeker, and Y.E. Yang.

 

  Jim Nantz, the two-time Emmy Award winner for "Outstanding Sports Personality - Play-by-Play" and five-time National Sportscaster of the Year, serves as anchor of CBS Sports' golf coverage. Sir Nick Faldo, winner of six major championships and more than 40 tournaments worldwide, serves as lead analyst. Ian Baker-Finch calls the action at the 17th hole, Gary McCord at the 16th hole and Peter Kostis at the 15th hole.   David Feherty serves as on-course reporter.  Lance Barrow is Coordinating Producer and Steve Milton is Director of CBS Sports' golf coverage.  Harold Bryant is Vice President, Production, CBS Sports.
