CBS SPORTS ANNOUNCES 2021-22 COLLEGE BASKETBALL SCHEDULE WITH MORE THAN 280 GAMES ACROSS MULTIPLE PLATFORMS


Schedule Features Key Rivalry Games, Top Conferences and Marquee Programs, including 23 Ranked Teams from AP Men’s Preseason Top 25


12 Automatic Bids to the NCAA Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments to be Awarded on CBS, CBS Sports Network and Paramount+

 

          CBS Sports has unveiled its 2021-22 college basketball schedule across multiple platforms with more than 280 games on the CBS Television Network, CBS Sports Network and Paramount+. This year’s slate is highlighted by appearances from marquee programs – including 23 ranked teams from the Associated Press Men’s Preseason Top 25 Poll – and top conferences from across the nation, key rivalry games and Conference Tournament action, including 12 automatic bids to the 2022 NCAA Men’s and Women’s Tournaments.

 

CBS TELEVISION NETWORK & PARAMOUNT+
CBS Sports begins its 41st consecutive season of college basketball coverage on Saturday, Dec. 4 with a matchup between San Diego State and No. 6 Michigan at 1:00 PM, ET. All college basketball games broadcast on the CBS Television Network will be available to stream live on Paramount+. Some of this year’s highlights include:

  • A tripleheader – with five teams ranked in the Top 20 – on Saturday, Dec. 18 beginning at 1:00 PM, ET with No. 1 Gonzaga taking on Texas Tech in the Jerry Colangelo Classic leading into the eighth annual CBS Sports Classic doubleheader from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. This year’s CBS Sports Classic will feature No. 2 UCLA facing No. 19 North Carolina at 3:00 PM, ET followed by No. 10 Kentucky versus No. 17 Ohio State.

  • A total of 40 regular-season appearances by Top 25 teams, with 20 ranked schools represented on CBS, including each of the Top 7: No. 1 Gonzaga, No. 2 UCLA, No. 3 Kansas, No. 4 Villanova, No. 5 Texas, No. 6 Michigan and No. 7 Purdue.

    Kentucky will each play five regular-season games on CBS, followed by No. 17 Ohio State and No. 21 Maryland with four appearances. Other ranked schools with multiple games on CBS are UCLA, Kansas, Purdue, No. 12 Memphis, No. 14 Alabama and No. 15 Houston.

  • In March, four automatic bids will be awarded to the Men’s NCAA Tournament. For the 24th time, CBS Sports will present the Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament Semifinals (Saturday, March 12) and Championship (Sunday, March 13). The Missouri Valley Championship will be decided on Sunday, March 6 with the Mountain West Championship (Saturday, March 12) and Atlantic 10 Championship (Sunday, March 13) taking place the following weekend.

  • INSIDE COLLEGE BASKETBALL, CBS Sports’ pregame, halftime and postgame studio show will provide analysis, highlights, features and more throughout the season.

  • CBS Sports will broadcast the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament for the 40th year, including a partnership since 2011 with Turner Sports to provide exclusive live coverage of every game in its entirety across CBS, TBS, TNT and truTV.

  • CBS Sports and HBCU All-Stars LLC will present the HBCU All-Star Game, a college basketball showcase featuring the best HBCU players in the country, on the Sunday of Final Four weekend (April 3, 4:00 PM, ET) in the host city of New Orleans, La.

The extensive regular-season schedule on CBS Sports Network will feature a total of 10 teams ranked in the AP Men’s and Women’s Preseason Top 25 Polls, including multiple appearances by Top 5 schools No. 1 Gonzaga and No. 4 Villanova on the Men’s side, as well as two games featuring Women’s No. 2 UConn. Men’s No. 23 St. Bonaventure leads the way among ranked teams with six games on CBS Sports Network followed by No. 24 UConn with three.

  • The schedule tips off on Friday, Nov. 12 with three games. The action begins with the annual Veterans Classic at the U.S. Naval Academy as Richmond meets Utah State at 6:00 PM, ET, followed by Virginia Tech taking on Navy. The night concludes on the West Coast with Stanford facing Santa Clara at 11:00 PM, ET.

  • Multiple Team Events (MTEs) this year on CBS Sports Network include the Jersey Mike’s Classic, Jacksonville Classic, Cancun Challenge, Baha Mar Hoops Bahamas Championship, Emerald Coast Classic and Southern California Challenge. Among the teams participating are No. 20 Florida State, No. 21 Maryland, Mississippi State, Louisville, SMU, Missouri, LSU, Oregon State, Penn State and Wake Forest.

  • Highlighting the action on the Women’s schedule are multiple appearances by No. 2 UConn (Sunday, Feb. 20 vs. Georgetown and Sunday, Feb. 27 vs. Providence) as well as regular-season conference action from the Big East, Atlantic 10 and Patriot League.

  • CBS Sports Network will carry Men’s and Women’s Conference Tournament action throughout March. On the Men’s side, the conferences include the Mountain West, Atlantic 10, Missouri Valley, C-USA, Mid-American, Colonial Athletic Association and Patriot League. The Women’s Conference Tournaments feature the Mountain West, Mid-American, C-USA, Patriot League, Southland and Atlantic 10.

  • Eight automatic bids to the Men’s and Women’s NCAA Tournament will be clinched on CBS Sports Network with three berths on the Men’s side (C-USA, Colonial Athletic Association and Patriot League) and five automatic bids for the Women’s NCAA Tournament (Mountain West, Mid-American, C-USA, Patriot League and Southland).

  • CBS Sports Network will provide studio programming all season long, including INSIDE COLLEGE BASKETBALL.

CBS Sports will also present coverage across multiple platforms for the NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Championship (Semifinals on CBS Sports Network, Championship Game on CBS & Paramount+), NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Championship (Semifinals and Championship Game on CBS Sports Network), NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Championship (Championship Game on CBS Sports Network) and NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Championship (Championship Game on CBS Sports Network).
