THE NFL ON CBS concludes its 48th season covering the National Football League when it travels to Foxborough, Mass. for the 2008 American Football Conference Championship Game on Sunday, Jan. 20 (3:00 PM, ET) as the undefeated AFC East champions and No. 1-seeded NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (17-0) host the AFC West champions and No. 3-seeded SAN DIEGO CHARGERS (13-5), live on the CBS Television Network.

 

Sunday afternoon's action kicks off with THE NFL TODAY, live at 2:00 PM, ET from THE NFL TODAY studio at the CBS Broadcast Center in New York City.

 

THE NFL TODAY previews the AFC Championship Game as Shannon Sharpe interviews New England's overlooked defense by talking with Tedy Bruschi, Mike Vrabel, Junior Seau and Rodney Harrison.  For Seau and Harrison, if they win, it will also be a return to the Super Bowl as each played for San Diego in Super Bowl XXIX in 1995.  Deb Gelman produces.

 

Lesley Visser visits with members of the Chargers including LaDainian Tomlinson, Philip Rivers, Antonio Cromartie, Antonio Gates and head coach Norv Turver, to talk about their recent rash of injuries, as well as the dislike between these two teams.

  

Sam Ryan will report live for THE NFL TODAY from Green Bay with a preview of the New York Giants-Packers showdown in the NFC Championship.

 

James Brown hosts THE NFL TODAY along with analysts Dan Marino, Boomer Esiason, Sharpe and Bill Cowher, as well as NFL TODAY "General Manager" Charley Casserly and reporters Visser and Ryan.
