The show is a continuation of CBS Sports’ “8:46” campaign which featured personal stories and messages from CBS Sports’ James Brown, Nate Burleson, Clark Kellogg, Lisa Leslie, Swin Cash, Charles Davis, Bill Cowher, Ian Eagle, Tracy Wolfson, Brian Jones, Katrina Adams, London Fletcher, Brandon Marshall, Grant Hill, Amy Trask, Amanda Balionis, as well as other members of CBS Sports from various departments.
CBS Sports debuted the special campaign as an effort to keep the conversation going and moving forward in order to continue listening, learning and coming together to create real, substantive change in the fight against racial injustice.
The “8:46” campaign was created, executed and produced by Mark Grant, Ellis Williams, Jelani Rooks, along with Creative Director Pete Radovich, and Executive Producer and Senior Vice President, Production Harold Bryant following a brainstorming session on how CBS Sports can use its platform to push for progress and support the Black Community. The initial eight messages of the campaign aired during CBS Sports programming on June 13-14 and were spread out across eight minutes and 46 seconds of time, all culminating with Brown’s message of love and unity. The campaign has continued in the following weeks with additional messages.
Bryant, Grant, Williams, Rooks and Shoshana Salmon are the producers of CBS SPORTS CONNECTED: WHAT IT MEANS TO BE ME.
