CBS Sports' coverage of the regional semifinals for the 2006 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship on Thursday, March 23 (7:00 PM-12:30 AM, ET) earned an average national household rating/share of 7.4/13, up +7% from last year's regional semi-finals, which earned a 6.9/12. The 7.4/13 ties as the best rating for coverage of the Thursday regional semi-finals since an 8.2/17 in 1994.

The first semi-final window (7:00-10:01 PM, ET) featuring LSU's upset of top-seeded Duke scored a 7.6/13, up +10% from a 6.9/12 for the comparable window in 2005. This is the highest rating in the window since a 7.8/13 in 2002 and the second best since a 7.7/13 in 1998.

The second broadcast window of the night (10:01 PM - 12:30 AM, ET), highlighted by a Texas win at the buzzer over West Virginia and UCLA coming from behind to beat Gonzaga, earned an average national household rating/share of 7.1/13, up +3% from last year's 6.9/12. This marks the second highest rating in the game window since a 7.4/19 in 1994.

CBS won the night in primetime on Thursday (8:00-11:00 PM, ET) with an average national household rating/share of 8.1/13, +11% ahead of ABC (7.3/12), +17% ahead of NBC (6.9/11), and +138% ahead of Fox (3.4/5).
