NEWS, NOTES AND QUOTES FROM CBS SPORTS AND CBS SPORTS NETWORK IN NEW ORLEANS:

SUPER BOWL LIVE:

  •  (BILL COWHER ON PLAYING IN THE SUPER BOWL):

In a game like this, it’s loose, and then it gets a little more serious as the game gets closer. It comes down to the focus and recognizing that the closer you get the focus is, “Let’s get on the field. Let’s get our job done. And enjoy this.” As we started to pare down, the curfew started to get closer to 10:00, 11:00. The night before you’re in bed early. I think you start to gear yourself and sort of ascend toward the game… The biggest thing to gauge is your leadership, focus in practice, the attention to detail.

  •  (Osi Umenyiora ON FREE AGENCY):

I think my first choice would be to go back to New York to return home. I’ve spent 10 years of my life year, so it would be my preference to go there. But this is a business. Hopefully everything is going to work out for the best.

INSIDE THE SUPER BOWL:

  •  (ELI MANNING ON HIS BROTHER PEYTON):

I’m very proud of him. I saw first-hand what he had to do this offseason just to get ready for this upcoming season. Going into a new team, new offense, new players and then also having to deal with his injuries, his surgeries, trying to get his strength back in his arm. It’s really amazing.  I’m really proud of all the effort that he did and all the winning there and got that team playing the way they did. I’m really happy for him.

THE TIM BRANDO SHOW:

  •  (RUSSEL WILSON ON THE SEAHAWKS LOSS TO THE 49ERS):

It was very, very disappointing. It was a heartbreaking loss to lose that game in that fashion… It was an unbelievable comeback. The fashion that we came back against a very, very good football team playing away in their stadium. If we had won that game, it would have easily gone down as one of the best games ever played in the National Football League in terms of playoffs. We end up losing that game. Obviously I was very disappointed, but when I was walking through that tunnel, I just had a flash come in front of me of all of the things we’ve done so far this season. And what the future holds. We’re a young football team… We have a very bright future and we’re excited about it.
