NEW YORK, September 26 - Michael Selleck has been promoted to the newly created position of Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing for Simon & Schuster, Inc.  The announcement was made by Carolyn Reidy, the CEO- designate of Simon & Schuster, and to whom Mr. Selleck will continue to report.

In his new position, Mr. Selleck will add to his portfolio full responsibility for the day to day operations of the Simon & Schuster Sales and Distribution division, including its international companies in Canada and Australia.  Selleck, who is currently Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing for the company's Adult Division, will also serve as a chief marketing strategist for all of Simon & Schuster's domestic divisions.

"Michael Selleck is a superb, highly organized manager who possesses great vision about the many ways publishers can use retail and consumer marketing, and he has made many critical contributions to our growth during his time here," said Carolyn Reidy.  "In asking him to take on this new position, and placing these functions under a single management, we will better capitalize on the complementary skills of our sales and marketing teams to find the widest possible audience for our authors and distribution clients."

"I am looking forward to expanding my role with our customers, distribution clients, publishers, authors, and of course, the fantastic sales team in place at S&S," added Michael Selleck.   "Working with these talented groups to fashion even closer coordination between our sales and marketing efforts is an opportunity for us to maintain Simon & Schuster's competitive edge."

At the same time, Simon & Schuster announced that Larry Norton, President of the Sales and Distribution Division, would be leaving the company at year's end.  Mr. Norton has been in his current position since 2003, and with Simon & Schuster since 1994.

"We offer our sincere thanks to Larry for his important role in our growth and his many years of exemplary service to Simon & Schuster.  He leaves us with a top notch sales organization that has consistently risen to meet the many challenges of the marketplace," said Reidy.

Mr. Selleck first joined Simon & Schuster in 1984, and held positions in sales and operations before joining the company's Trade Division in 1992 as Vice President, Director of National Accounts.  He became Vice President, Director of Marketing in 1994, Vice President, Executive Director of Marketing in 1999, and was named to his current position in 2005.  Prior to joining S&S, Selleck held positions at Waldenbooks as a bookseller, buyer and merchandise manager.

Mr. Selleck, 52, is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University.  He lives in New York City.
