AN HOMAGE TO THE LATE DIRECTOR JOHN HUGHES —In the chaos surrounding an `80's alumni dance at the high school, Haley's (Bethany Joy Galeotti) birthday is forgotten, Jamie (Jackson Brundage) is left home alone, and Nathan (James Lafferty) and Clay (Robert Buckley) are stranded 200 miles from Tree Hill. Meanwhile, Brooke's (Sophia Bush) appearance at the dance with Alexander (guest star Mitch Ryan) forces Julian (Austin Nichols) to relive his dorky adolescence in an episode dedicated to the memory of John Hughes. Shantel VanSanten, Lee Norris, and Lisa Goldstein also star. Les Butler directed the episode written by Terrence Coli (#715).

MEET THE PARENTS — When Baze (Kristoffer Polaha) tells his parents (guest stars Robin Thomas and Susan Hogan) about Lux (Britt Robertson), they insist on planning a dinner at which they can meet their granddaughter and Cate (Shiri Appleby). Cate reluctantly agrees to go to the dinner and is further annoyed when her overbearing mother (guest star Cynthia Stevenson) and neurotic sister (guest star Alex Breckenridge) show up unexpectedly. Meanwhile, when Cate (Shiri Appleby) hears about a gang fight at Lux's school, she immediately decides to have Lux transferred to her and Baze's (Kristoffer Polaha) alma mater, Westmonte. Kerr Smith and Austin Basis also star. Executive producer Gary Fleder directed the episode written by executive producer Liz Tigelaar (#102).

DJ SAMANTHA RONSON AND RUMER WILLIS GUEST STAR, ALONG WITH A PERFORMANCE BY PHARRELL AND N.E.R.D. — Navid (Michael Steger) and Gia (guest star Rumer Willis) launch an investigation into student drug use at West Beverly for Blaze News, which leads them to Annie's (Shenae Grimes) boyfriend, Jasper (guest star Zach Sherman), leaving Annie torn over who to believe. Fresh off his break-up with Adrianna (Jessica Lowndes), Navid receives dating advice from Samantha Ronson (appearing as herself) while out with Liam (Matt Lanter), Teddy (Trevor Donovan) and Ivy (guest star Gillian Zinser) at the Edison. Worried that Adrianna will relapse, Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord) and Silver (Jessica Stroup) enlist Navid's assistance. Dixon (Tristan Wilds) reveals his situation with Sasha (guest star Mekia Cox) to Debbie (Lori Loughlin) and Harry (Rob Estes), prompting Debbie to do some investigating. Jen (guest star Sara Foster) and Ryan (Ryan Eggold) meet up with Pharrell (appearing as himself) to watch a performance of N.E.R.D. Miller Tobin directed the episode written by Jennie Snyder Urman (#208).

DAVID FEARS HE MAY HAVE KILLED SYDNEY — Riley (Jessica Lucas) helps Jonah (Michael Rady) film a wedding, but the two get into a big fight in the middle of the ceremony. Putting her relationship with Jonah first, Riley breaks off her friendship with Auggie (Colin Egglesfield), who doesn't take the news very well. Ella (Katie Cassidy) discovers Lauren's (Stephanie Jacobsen) expensive new clothing and lingerie plus a large envelope of cash and confronts her roommate about the late nights she's been working. David (Shaun Sipos) fears he may be responsible for Sydney's (Laura Leighton) death. Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Thomas Calabro also star. Nate (Chace Crawford) and Chuck (Ed Westwick) plot to help Serena (Blake Lively) and Blair (Leighton Meester) repair their damaged friendship. Dan (Penn Badgley) is upset when Olivia (guest star Hilary Duff) contemplates leaving school for a movie project. Jessica Szohr, Kelly Rutherford and Matthew Settle also star. MORE SECRETS OF THE SALVATORE FAMILY HISTORY ARE REVEALED / KELLY HU AND JAMES REMAR GUEST STAR — In flashbacks, Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) recall the long-ago actions taken by townspeople including their father, Guiseppe Salvatore (guest star James Remar, "Dexter"), and Pearl (guest star Kelly Hu, "Army Wives"), leading to the devastating events that caused the rift in their relationship. In the present, Bonnie's (Katerina Graham) date with Ben (guest star Sean Faris) takes a frightening turn. Elena (Nina Dobrev) helps Stefan as he and Damon race to find the missing journal that belonged to Elena's ancestor. Stefan learns the reason behind Alaric's (Matt Davis) interest in both the journal and the town's history. Damon discovers that an old acquaintance has returned to town with an agenda he understands. JOHN WINCHESTER IS BACK — The angels send Anna (guest star Julie McNiven) back in time to kill John (guest star Matthew Cohen) and Mary (guest star Amy Gumenick) Winchester before they can conceive Sam (Jared Padalecki) knowing that if Sam was never born then Lucifer won't be able to use him as his vessel. Castiel (Misha Collins) sends Sam and Dean (Jensen Ackles) back to 1978 so they can stop Anna, and the two brothers are reunited with their parents. Mary recognizes Dean as a hunter since he visited her in the past once before but tries to keep the truth from John. Steve Boyum directed the episode written by Sera Gamble & Nancy Weiner (#513).

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 29

 

 

A TWO-HOUR EVENT

DC COMICS' CHARACTERS HAWKMAN, STAR GIRL AND DR. FATE FROM THE JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA MEET UP WITH CLARK AND HIS TEAM IN A SPECIAL TWO-HOUR EVENT; PAM GRIER GUEST STARS — A man named Sylvester Pemberton (guest star) tracks down Chloe (Allison Mack) and tells her he knows about her team of superheroes and needs their help. However, before he can explain who he is, he is attacked and killed by Icicle (guest star Wesley Macinnes). Clark (Tom Welling) and Chloe's (Allison Mack) investigation leads Clark to the former headquarters of the Justice Society of America where he meets up with Nelson AKA Dr. Fate (guest star Brent Stait), Carter Hall AKA Hawkman (guest star Michael Shanks) and Courtney AKA Star Girl (guest star Britt Irvin). Courtney pleads with Hawkman and Dr. Fate to help her catch the killer that is targeting their group but they are reluctant to resume their duties as superheroes. Clark, John Jones (guest star Phil Morris), Green Arrow (Justin Hartley) and Chloe team up to help the JSA stop Icicle before he murders another member of the group. Meanwhile, Lois (Erica Durance) receives a package from a mysterious agency called Checkmate, run by Amanda Waller (guest star Pam Grier). Geoff Johns wrote the two-hour episode. Glen Winters directed the first hour (#3X5262) and Tom Welling directed the second hour (#3X5263).
